become a “safe place”

Safe Place is a simple but very effective initiative that allows any business, organisation, church, school or community group to provide a ‘Safe Place’ where anyone affected by domestic abuse can confidentially access information on the range of support services available to them.

Safe Place training is also open to any individual who would like to work towards making their community a Safe Place.

“Ask for Angela” Campaign

Anyone who is feeling unsafe, vulnerable or threatened can discreetly seek help by approaching venue staff and asking them for ‘Angela’ in a registered venue.

To learn more about the campaign or how to get your staff trained, visit the PSNI and Hospitality Ulster websites for more information.

Ask for ANI - ACTION Needed Immediately

Ask for ANI (Action Needed Immediately) is a codeword scheme that enables victims of domestic abuse to discreetly ask for immediate help in participating pharmacies and Jobs and Benefits Offices and banks.

When a victim uses the codeword in the pharmacy, a member of staff will take the victim to a private room (‘Safe Space’) where they can help them call the police, domestic abuse helpline or a family member, friend or perhaps even a solicitor.
